Life Network CEO Calls for Respectful Dialogue and Right of Reply at European Parliament

On 12 October 2026, Life Network Foundation Malta CEO Dr Miriam Sciberras formally addressed European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, political group leaders and Maltese MEPs, raising serious concerns over the Foundation’s inclusion in The Hate Review: How the Anti-Gender Movement Spread Across Europe, 2000–2025, launched at the European Parliament.

The report classifies Life Network among Malta’s “anti-gender organisations”, citing its March for Life, pregnancy support services and advocacy work. In the letter, the CEO firmly rejected this character assassination emphasising that the Foundation’s mission is rooted in protecting human life, upholding human dignity and supporting mothers, babies and families, regardless of background.

Concern was expressed over the report’s language, which compares organisations to a “chronic infection” and calls for the “decontamination of Europe”. The CEO argued that such rhetoric contradicts the principles of democracy including human dignity, pluralism and freedom of expression upon which the European Union is founded.

The letter called for clarification that hosting the report’s launch did not constitute European Parliament endorsement, called for a renewed commitment to respectful democratic dialogue and a right of reply for the organisations named.

At the heart of the CEO’s appeal was a simple but powerful message: “Disagreement is not hatred and the answer to disagreement is respectful debate, not the dehumanising language of ‘decontamination’.”
